Yeah I don't really get people calling speith a choker. Bloke has 3 majors and is only 23.

Nerves like everyone, but he's not someone like Fowler (and kucher) who really does choke.

The baby boomers certainly love visiting a sporting event.

I think Speith must have iced water in his veins.

Fantastic crowds this week. 235,000 have turned up which is only 4k behind the record at St Andrews. There's still a huge appetite for golf in the UK but the public are starved of tournaments and TV coverage if they don't get extorted by Murdoch.

Not particularly keen on Speith but my god can the guy putt. Big weakness in the games of others like McIlroy and of course for years Westwood.

Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
TM - I'm afraid Paramor could not have forced him to play the ball as it lay. To declare a ball to be in an unplayable lie is entirely the players call.
Blame the player for shameless gamesmanship i.e. taking blatant advantage of the rules. If he wins this he won't have my respect after that disgusting behaviour. The bloke is clearly a win at all costs merchant, which in my book makes him a cheating cunt, however good a player he is.

the rules can fuck off

all I can hope for is a bolt of lightning to hit the cunt on the 17th tee

Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
I can think of a few who would have hacked the ball out of that chunk of grass and saved a 20 minute wait.

Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
Mike - I don't disagree with you. The principle stinks. But they're the rules!

Takashi Miike 7:28 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
ive played for many years but i always thought to use the unplayable rule the ball actually had to be 'unplayable'. the ball was clearly visible through the grass so Paramor should have made him play it. who cares if it may have only gone twenty or thirty yards

andyd12345 7:26 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
Not Spieths fault. The rules apply the same to everyone - Spieth simply followed the rules. If we want to blame anyone, it should be the R&A

Grumpster 7:26 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
It's in the rules, he done nothing wrong and he won't be the last player to do it and take the dropped shot.

All adding to the drama, think it's great.

Come on kuch

VirginiaHam 7:22 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
The idea that you can 'make rules work in your favour' sounds completely wrong. Ending up in that chunk of grass and then hitting off a perfect lie at the cost of one shot seems like daylight robbery.

Agree 100% TM. A total farse.

Takashi Miike 7:16 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
them allowing him to hit that third off a perfect lie on practice ground that is out of bounds is a disgrace. fucking cheating r&a amateur cunts

Alwaysaniron 7:14 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
He will prosper now from a birdie having made Kuch wait forever for him to play on the last hole. Almost cheating!!!

Takashi Miike 7:10 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
its not just the slow play, he's been walking up to his ball on the green while kuchar's yet to hole out. he's a cunt, I really want kuchar to win this or wrap his driver round the little cunt's head

Alwaysaniron 6:58 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
Surely there must be some timing rule. This is embarrassing for R&A rules.

Takashi Miike 6:58 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
they'll need floodlights by the time the cunt hits his shot

Should have ruled OB

Alwaysaniron 6:56 Sun Jul 23
Re: The 146th Open Championship : Royal Birkdale
FMOB he's gonna hate the guy that found the ball. He'd have been better off losing it and taking 3 off the tee.
